Forensic Goals
Generally, the focus of any forensic investigation and analysis of a hostile fire or explosion incident is to evaluate the origin (epicenter) of the incident, evaluate the ignition sequence (cause) of the incident and evaluate the responsibility for the occurrence of the incident.
More specificallty, the forensic analysis considers the nature of the hostile fire or explosion incident, the first fuel ignited in the incident, the development, progression and fire flow of the incident, the adverse consequences of the incident, the effects of the incident on persons and physical property and the mitigation necessary for preventing a similar incident from occurring again in the future.
Often, products are involved in the ignition sequence of a hostile fire or explosion incident and the contributimg factors of such involvement becomes of paramount importance. Other times, the actions and/or inactions of persons or entities are the focus of the investigation and analysis and their accountability is carefully considered.
Regardless of the facts and circumstances surrounding a hostile fire or explosion, the forensic investigation and analysis facilitates the goal of discovering, documenting and evaluating ball of thev available data and information as an important contribution to furthering both life safety and fire safety!

The forensic nvestigation and analysis of any safety, security or emergency management issue, including hostile fire and explosion incidents, are complex endeavors. The methodology of such an endeavor, therefore, must include the comprehensive, objective, and accurate compilation of all available and relevant data.
